What Could Change for Your Loan
Nothing changes on your loan until Suncorp Bank and ANZ write to you about your move. When that letter arrives, read it closely. ANZ says the changes will depend on your loan type and the features you use.
Your Product Terms
Because Suncorp Bank is now part of the ANZ Group, your loan may be varied to match a similar ANZ product. That can mean different terms and features from the ones you originally signed up for.
Offset Sub-Accounts
Suncorp Bank's Everyday Options account can offset your loan across a main account and up to nine sub-accounts. At the time of writing, ANZ links one offset account to each eligible loan. If you budget in separate buckets, check what your new set-up will look like.
Top-Ups and New Borrowing
Suncorp Bank no longer writes new home loans, so a renovation top-up or an investment loan now has to go to ANZ or another lender. If you'll need funds in the next 12 months, start comparing early.
Repayments and Fixed Rates
If you've paid ahead, use redraw, or have a fixed rate ending soon, check how those arrangements carry across. Breaking a fixed rate early can cost money, so get the numbers before you act.
Stay With ANZ or Refinance?
There's no single right answer. For plenty of borrowers, moving across to ANZ will be perfectly fine. Our role is to put the numbers in front of you so you can decide with confidence.
Staying May Suit You If
- your rate still compares well with what's on offer today
- you're on a fixed rate with high break costs
- the ANZ version of your loan keeps the features you actually use
- you value a big-four bank with a national branch network
Refinancing May Be Worth a Look If
- you rely on multiple offset sub-accounts
- you want to borrow more in the next year
- you haven't reviewed your rate in two years or more
- your fixed rate ends before mid 2027
- you're self-employed, or another lender may assess your income more favourably

Your Questions Answered
What happens to my Suncorp home loan after the ANZ takeover?
It moves to ANZ. Your loan carries on with Suncorp Bank on its current terms until you're contacted, then becomes an ANZ home loan in the first half of 2027. Its terms and features may be varied to match a similar ANZ product, so read the letter Suncorp Bank and ANZ send you closely.
When is the Suncorp ANZ merger date?
There are two dates that matter. ANZ completed its takeover of Suncorp Bank on 31 July 2024. Customers are now moving across in stages, with Suncorp home loans becoming ANZ loans in the first half of 2027 and the full migration due by June 2027.
Do I have to move to ANZ?
Yes, if you stay with Suncorp Bank. Customers can't delay or opt out of the move. Your alternative is to refinance to a different lender, which you can do at any time.
Will my interest rate change when my loan moves to ANZ?
Not before you hear from them. Until Suncorp Bank writes to you about your move, your rate, repayments and contract carry on as normal, though a variable rate can still move with the market. Your loan may then be varied to match a similar ANZ product, so read the letter for what changes.
Can I refinance my Suncorp Bank home loan before it moves to ANZ?
Yes. You can refinance at any time. Your new lender books settlement, and Suncorp Bank pays out and closes the old loan. Fixed rate loans can carry break costs and discharge fees may apply, so we'll work out the full cost before you decide.
Can I still top up my Suncorp Bank home loan?
Not if the top-up needs a new loan contract. Suncorp Bank stopped accepting new home loan applications on 7 October 2026, so extra borrowing now has to go through ANZ or another lender.
Will I keep my offset sub-accounts at ANZ?
Possibly not. Suncorp Bank's Everyday Options account lets a main account and up to nine sub-accounts offset your loan. At the time of writing, ANZ links one offset account to each eligible home loan. ANZ could change its offering before the move, so check your letter carefully.
When will my home loan become an ANZ loan?
In the first half of 2027. ANZ expects every Suncorp Bank customer to be on its systems by June 2027, and you'll receive letters or emails ahead of time explaining what changes for you.
